December Compost Harvest Deferred

Aloha Compost Club Members and Associates,

This month, our usual 3rd-Saturday-of-the-month COMPOST HARVEST – which would normally be scheduled for Saturday, December 15th – has been cancelled in deference to Escola Soccer Club Hawaii who have offered to tackle the harvest of two big piles as a service project.

Compost Harvest at Ka'elepulu Elementary SchoolThese are the young athletes (ages 9-13) who use the Kainalu Elementary field for soccer practice. They were looking for a way to thank the school for the use of the field. Yahoo, kids expressing gratitude! This is a fine idea! Plus, it’s practically impossible to get students out of the classroom during their busy, tightly scheduled day to experience the fun and learning of compost harvesting, so of course when they asked I said YES!

I hope y’all don’t mind.

If you want to come by and lend a hand, or need to pick up compost for yourself, please do so. The soccer club will be harvesting this Sunday, December 9, starting at 9:00am.

We’ll pick up our usual monthly routine on Saturday, January 19th, 2019, at 10:30 am. We’ll be harvesting the last two piles of gorgeous Kainalu School compost that will be available at our legendary open-to-the-public COMPOST SALE the very next Saturday, January 26th. Mark your calendars!

All of us at the Windward Zero Waste School Hui wish you a wonderful holiday season, full of life, love, and laughter….

See you next year!
